SomnoMed Snoring & Sleep Apnea System
The SomnoMed MAS (tm) is a custom-made device that helps combat snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea by adjusting the angle of the lower jaw. The device pushes the chin marginally forward, which changes the tension in the tongue and tightens the tissues and muscles in the airway. If these tissues and muscles remain tightened during sleep, the wearer will no longer have problems with snoring and sleep apnea.
Each SomnoMed MAS (tm) has two plates – one that fits into the roof of the patient’s mouth, and another that goes over their bottom teeth. These plates have a patented fin-coupling hinge piece which lets the wearer move their mouth fairly naturally, so the wearer will still be able to talk and drink water safely without having to remove the device.
Proven by a large amount of clinical research, the SomnoMed MAS (tm) has become a popular solution to moderate cases of snoring and sleep apnea. Thanks to its comfortable, custom-made design, it has helped many people improve the quality of their sleep.
Understanding Obstructive Sleep Apnea
People who suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea often have no idea that they have the condition. Since sleep apnea incidences occur while the subject is asleep, odds are that they will not know that they have a snoring or sleep apnea problem when they wake up the next morning. People with sleep apnea will often need a family member to notify them of their condition.
Normal
For the majority of sleepers, their tongue and the muscles that keep their airway open are able to do it without assistance.
Snoring
If the tongue, tissues and muscles become relaxed during sleep, they may restrict air flow inside the wind pipe. Snoring occurs when the air movement makes the tissues vibrate.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea
If these muscles become too slack, they may fall back and block the airway, causing a dangerous obstruction.
